Career Opportunities

This course is aimed at those people who wish to work as a farm manager, share farmer or may be contemplating farm ownership. You will have direct responsibility for running a complete farming enterprise but you may report to others.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Farm manager/owner

Tasks May Include:

Operating and maintaining equipment
Identifying and preparing materials
Calculating and formulating
Grading and quality inspection
Advising on selection and manufacturing / preparation

Duration

Can be undertaken over 24 months full time or 48 months part time equivalent

Requirements

A total of 10 units of competency must be completed

Select 4 units from Group A below
Select 4 units from Group A and/or B below
Select 2 additional units from Group B and/or C below

Units should be selected from Group A and Group B in accordance with local work undertaken and local industry advice.

GROUP B

BSBMGT507A	Manage environmental performance
RTC5702A	Develop and manage a chemical use strategy
RTE5002A	Manage integrated crop and pasture production
RTE5304A	Implement a machinery management system
RTE5523A	Develop climatic risk management strategies
RTE5525A	Manage trial and/or research materials
RTE5902A	Develop and review a business plan
RTE5916A	Prepare and monitor budgets and financial reports
RTE5917A	Arrange livestock purchases
RTE5918A	Arrange marketing of livestock
RTE5920A	Negotiate and monitor contracts/commercial agreements
RTF5521A	Monitor and manage soils/growing media

GROUP C
This Group includes other units of competency from RTE03 Rural Production, and/or other endorsed Training Packages within our scope.

Requirements

IIFP must be granted access to workplace staff and training/assessment rescources
to meet the requirements of candidates with special needs and modify
an assessment approach that incorporates reasonable adjustments to their needs.
