Career Opportunities

This course is aimed at those people who wish to work as a farm manager, share farmer or may be contemplating farm ownership. You will have direct responsibility for running a complete farming enterprise but you may report to others.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Farm manager/owner

Tasks May Include:

Operating and maintaining equipment
Identifying and preparing materials
Calculating and formulating
Grading and quality inspection
Advising on selection and manufacturing / preparation

Duration

Can be undertaken over 24 months full time or 48 months part time equivalent

Requirements

A total of 10 units of competency must be completed

Select 8 units from Group B below
Select 2 additional units from Group B and/or C below

Carry out workplace OHS procedures*

RTE5107A	Identify and select animals for breeding
RTE5516A	Develop a whole farm plan
RTE5604A	Develop an irrigation and drainage management plan
RTE5903A	Plan, implement and review a quality assurance program
RTC5701A	Establish and maintain the enterprise OHS program
RTE5101A	Develop and implement a breeding strategy
RTC5702A	Develop and manage a chemical use strategy
RTD5402A	Develop a strategy for the management of target pests
RTF5001A	Develop a horticultural production plan
RTF5005A	Manage plant health

GROUP C
This Group includes other units of competency from RTE03 Rural Production, and/or other endorsed Training Packages within our scope.

Infastructure
Requirements

IIFP must be granted access to workplace staff and training/assessment rescources
to meet the requirements of candidates with special needs and modify
an assessment approach that incorporates reasonable adjustments to their needs.

No further training options are available after the Diploma.
Higher education would be an option.

Training is delivered in the workplace at various industry locations.
